Simulating the toughest conditions a material has to endure

Our PlasmaSonic systems are advanced ground-testing platforms designed to replicate the extreme conditions of high-velocity flight or atmospheric re-entry. These units accurately reproduce the intense thermal loads encountered by heat-shield materials, enabling realistic qualification of thermal protection systems (TPS). Our systems can also be configured for erosion testing where particle injection inside the plasma jet to simulate re-entry conditions with dusty atmosphere. 

International engineers and researchers use Tekna’s Plasmasonic – High enthalpy plasma wind tunnels to evaluate performance, durability, and failure modes under the most demanding conditions.  

Depending on the test requirements, Tekna can propose the following technologies 

  • Induction plasma wind tunnel (ICPT) 
  • DC Segmented plasma wind tunnel (SPT) 
  • DC Huels plasma wind tunnel (HPT)
