Tekna works in partnership with customers to develop added value materials using plasma technology. Over the last 15 years, our R&D services, supported by a team of highly qualified scientists and technicians, has helped customers to develop new materials and new markets without committing large amounts of capital. Our R&D services are very broad, and range from the development of advanced materials and new applications to powder manufacturing and treatment.
Tekna’s facilities are equipped with multiple R&D plasma units to undertake the most demanding research programs. Also, R&D projects are assisted by a state-of-the-art laboratory equipped with a wide range of high quality analytical instruments to accurately characterize all types of physical and chemical powder properties, including crystalline structure (XRD), morphology/composition (SEM/EDS), particle size distribution (Malvern™) and surface area (BET). Tekna also offers numerical modeling to evaluate, for instance, new equipment design and process performance.
Numerical modeling is an essential and powerful tool which can add great value to plasma processes. As part of the R&D and design stage, Tekna developed unique skills in numerical modeling of the most complex plasma processes. We model plasma and particle temperatures, flow, and velocity profile inside our torch and reactors which permits a better optimization of the system design and performance. Tekna also offers numerical modeling to evaluate new equipment design and process performance.
