DC TRANSFERRED ARC PLASMAS

The DC transferred arc plasma uses the material to be treated as an anode or cathode (most often an anode). Transferred arc plasmas created between the torch cathode and the work piece (anode) have long been used to form a molten pool (metals, ceramics, glasses) on the surface of a work or target piece for metal re-melting, welding operations and related material purification methods, etc. This type of plasma technology can also be used as the heat source to melt and vaporize solid precursors for the synthesis of nanoparticles. The advantage of the transferred arc for this purpose is that the productivity of nanopowder production can be remarkably high.
